Carols from Clippesby
The Lakefield Singers and the Clippesby Christmas Choir
The tradition of St. Peter’s Church having a choir for the Carol Service goes back a very long way – fifty years in fact – and for twenty years of that time Evelyn Chalkley was its conductor. Pauline took over the baton from her mother ten years ago, and recently for the Christmas occasion the choir’s name gradually changed from The Lakefield Singers into the Clippesby Christmas Choir, and with dwindling numbers was delighted to welcome a tenor and bass into its ranks. In its early years, Mary Cooke of Oby was the accompanist; for the last twelve or so years that most important supportive role has been undertaken by Peter Aldous from Great Yarmouth.
